Internship (PGY-1)
Our internship program, First Year of Post-graduate Training affords opportunity to rotate into various clinical areas in a hospital setting. The intern’s patient care experience will begin from admission to discharge working alongside the attending physicians, advanced residents and hospital staff. The clinical areas for rotations are family medicine, ambulatory care, cardiology, emergency medicine, intensive care unit, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, pathology, pediatrics, psychiatry, and radiology.
Residency (PGY-2, PGY-3)
Our residency program consists of Second and Third Year of Post-graduate Training. The program in family practice emphasizes the continuity of care philosophy through experience in caring for patients in an inpatient, ambulatory and managed care settings. In addition, residents rotate through the following services: obstetrics/gynecology, surgery, pediatrics, internal medicine and emergency medicine. Educational lectures, patient rounds and morning report are provided daily. The residents are afforded a great deal of responsibility and extensive “hands-on” experience in practice management, patient management and procedural medicine.
PROGRAM BENEFITS
Annual Housing Stipend
- $12,000 ($1,000/month) plus:
- PGY 1 Salary of $26,000 = Total $38,000
- PGY 2 Salary of $28,000 = Total $40,000
- PGY 3 Salary of $29,000 = Total $41,000
Insurance
Medical coverage including prescription benefits and $10,000 Life Insurance policy are provided. Dental, Cancer, Disability, Long-Term Care and additional life insurance available as well as dependent coverage at additional cost. Professional Liability Insurance is provided at no cost.
Additional benefits
Credit union, direct deposit, fourteen (14) days off, CME's, lab coats, meals while on duty, paid time off and $500 for PGY3 board review course.
Library
The library is available 24 hours, 7 days a week for all our interns and residents. Internet and access to the University of Miami School of Medicine Calder Library are available in the library as a resource for research and articles. The librarian is available to assist interns and residents with any special needs.
